Alaska Air National Guard's 176 Wing members assembled for an annual award ceremony here May 3, presenting several members with wing-specific awards.

The recipients were chosen based on the members' activities and performance from January to December of last year.

"I know how important the military lifestyle is to my husband," said Heather Asselin, wife of an award winner and 176 Maintenance Operations Flight member, Master Sgt. James Asselin. "He eats, sleeps and breaths it. Therefore, we eat, breathe and sleep it, so it's nice to see that being recognized."

The ceremony was not only to recognize the 2013 outstanding individual performers, but also to reflect on the contributions, service and sacrifice of the whole Midnight Sun Guardian team.

"We hold this ceremony every year to recognize the outstanding guardsmen who go above and beyond every day to make our mission successful," said Brig. Gen. Donald S. Wenke, commander of the 176 Wing.
