JOINT BASE ELMENDORF-RICHARDSON, Alaska -- Lt. Col. Steven B. Latham took command of the Alaska Air National Guard's 210th Rescue Squadron from Lt. Col. Thomas A. Bolin at a change-of-command ceremony here Nov. 3, 2013.
These ceremonies take place each time an in-coming commander takes the reins of a unit, passing the unit flag from old commander to new commander.
"Wear your people on your heart because you're going to ask them to do really hard things," said Lt. Col. Michael Griesbaum, deputy commander of the 176 Operations Group, the 210th's parent unit. "You're going to ask them to do hard things because they are the right things to do. You do that, and you will succeed."
