AFREP
Alaska Air Guardsman MSgt Curtis Graham, a metal technology specialist, welds a cracked tailpipe from a C-130H aircraft?s T-56 engine on April 14, 2010. Graham works for the Machine Shop in the Fabrication Section of the 176th Maintenance Squadron, Kulis Air National Guard Base, Anchorage, Alaska. The repair of the tailpipe falls under the Air Force Repair Enhancement Program (AFREP). AFREP is a wing-level program that takes throw-away parts and makes them good as new. Unserviceable aircraft parts are carefully scrutinized to see if there is a way to salvage them for less money than it costs to replace them. (Alaska Air National Guard photo by Tech. Sgt.
