Alaska Air National Guard at Hurricane Ike
Two Alaska Air National Guard HH-60 Pave Hawks on Galveston Island, Texas. The helicopters crews set down the morning of Sept. 13, 2008 to check on residents who weathered the storm in old miiltary bunkers located on the island. The 176th Wing deployed two helicopters and about 30 wing members to the Gulf Coast region Sept. 1 to perform expected search-and-rescue missions in the wake of Hurricane Gustav. They remained in the region to aid rescue efforts relating to Hurricane Ike. Alaska Air National Guard photo by TSgt. Sean Mitchell.
