AKANG Director of Operations Enlists Daughter
Col. Dave Lowell, director of operations for the Alaska Air National Guard, guides his daughter, Whitney Mandt, through the Oath of Enlistment here July 22. Lowell is retiring from military service in October. Mandt is enlisting in the Alaska Air National Guard as a member of the 176th Wing's Security Forces Squadron. An international studies student at UAA, she gave as her reasons for enlisting (a) the educational benefits and (b) the opportunity to fire grenade launchers. "She's got a lot of fire in her," Lowell said with a smile.
