Piece of history static display of 176th Wing
A C-47 Skytrain with the tail number 857, takes off from Upottery Airfield, in East Devon, England, May 29, 1944. At this point, it had not received its invasion strips. The “D8” on the fuselage tells that it was a plane assigned to the 94th Troop Carrier Squadron. The “B” on the tail is its individual marker. This aircraft is now a static display of the 176th Wing on JBER, Alaska.
