Pacific Airlift Rally leaves Alaska and lessons

A C-17 Globemaster III, flown by the 249th Airlift Squadron, Alaska Air National Guard, drops a HMMWV vehicle fitted with a parachute system out the back of the aircraft over Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, Aug. 27, during Pacific Airlift Rally. PAR 15 is a biennial, military aircraft symposium sponsored by Pacific Air Forces for nations in the Indo-Asia-Pacific region. This year’s PAR was co-hosted by the Alaska Air National Guard, 176th Wing. The exercise uses a Humanitarian Assistance/Disaster Relief scenario to provide participating nations the opportunity to cooperate, interact and advance airlift topics specific to the region.
