Aircrew members from the Air Force’s 517th Airlift Squadron and the Alaska Air National Guard’s 144th Airlift Squadron were preparing for a takeoff and landing in a simulated chemically contested environment. Polar Force 19 was two-week exercise that gave squadrons an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities to forward deploy and deliver overwhelming combat airpower.
